Asian takeaway Zulfi's in Headingley is in the running for 'Best Takeaway Kebab Shop Outside of London' in the 2015 British Kebab Awards, following a nomination from local MP Greg Mulholland.

A favourite among Headingley locals, the takeaway at 66 Brudenell Road won national recognition in 2010 as Golden Kebab Winner and this time is up against 13 other nominees from across the country. Voting closes on Sunday, 4th January 2015, with winners revealed at a ceremony in Westminster on Wednesday, 7th January.

The British Kebab Awards, organised by the Centre for Turkish Studies, aim to highlight the £2.2 billion contribution kebab businesses make annually to the economy and will give awards to takeaways across 14 categories.
Commenting, Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland said: "Zulfi's is a very popular local takeaway. I used to live round the corner and know their excellent food well, their national recognition is definitely well deserved!

"I'm sure local residents and customers will get behind Zulfi's to give them a real chance at winning the award for best takeaway kebab shop outside of London. I have already cast my vote and will be encouraging others to do so too!"
Owner of Zulfi's, Tariq Yousaf, added: "We have a lot of regular customers who enjoy a kebab from Zulfi's, so it's great to be recognised in this way and to make the final cut for a national award. Thanks a lot to Greg for nominating us, we hope the people of Leeds will now give Zulfi's their support and vote for us!"

Ibrahim Dogus, Director and Founder of the British Kebab Awards, also added:
"The British Kebab Awards are going from strength to strength.
"It is fantastic that we have this opportunity to recognise the work of businesses across the country, as well as highlight how varied the British kebab industry is, and the important contribution it makes to the economy."
