Where sells the best kebabs in Manchester?
Yesterday we brought you the news that several Manchester restaurants had made it onto the shortlists of the British Kebab Awards .
Off the back of that, you took to social media to tell us some of your favourites (Abdul's on Oxford Road featured heavily).
But what do TripAdvisor users rate as the best kebab in Manchester?
Here's the top eight according to the public reviews site - but if you've got your own favourite, leave them in the comments.
Cafe Istanbul, Manchester city centre

It's a proper restaurant, and it serves up a proper donner kebab. Sad times though, as Cafe Istanbul is up for sale , but it's been keeping hungry customers satisfied for almost four decades on Bridge Street. And it's TripAdvisor's top-rated Manchester kebab.
"I regularly visit Cafe Istanbul, it's my favourite place to go! The best kebab in Manchester and such a lovely atmosphere," says Lewis C. Can't say fairer than that.
Turkish Delight, Chorlton
Turkish Delight in Chorlton
This Barlow Moor Road restaurant is a firm South Manchester favourite - and comes in second in the kebab charts.
"Other things are for sale but we were here for the kebabs – don’t confuse these with the average curry shop horrors. Nice fresh lean meats stored, picked and cooked in front of you," raved TraceyJandMike.
Si P loves it too: "The place doesn't just do kebabs, but that's what I have always had there, I keep going back. Been going for about 10 years."
Topkapi Palace, Manchester city centre
The Deansgate restaurant has been around for beards* and there can't be many people living here who haven't been in since it opened in 1979.
Shout out to Jonny B on TA, who was 'pleasantly surprised with a mammoth plate of kebab' on his last visit.
Panicos Kebab House, Chorlton
Another Chorlton entry, Panicos is one of the nominees for a top national award, so they're obviously doing something right.
"Best halloumi kebab in Manchester," says AIXJE, while definitely not reinforcing Chorlton stereotypes.
BillyBloater assumes the role of Spokesperson for the Common Man though: "I'm a connoisseur of a good kebab and the Chicken and donner mix on naan with all the sauces is second to none."
"Even before we lived in Chorlton we travelled here for our kebabs!" claims Zoe C.
The Oast House, Spinningfields, Manchester
Oast House's Hanging Kebab
This is Spinningfields, they do kebabs differently here. Namely, hanging upside down off a massive skewer so it occasionally slaps you in the face like a meaty in-car air freshener. People in general seem to think they're really good though.
"We ate here a while back and the hanging kebabs were really good," says d3an0 (see). "Enjoyed the hanging chicken kebab, which was faultless," parped Chris G.
'"Great hanging kebabs and lovely prosecco!" says Bekki G, who is clearly taking kebabs upscale.
You can also get a decent range of ales in here, so well worth a trip.
Barbecue in Middleton
I've honestly never heard of this place and to be fair I've only ever been to Middleton once. Ok, so I actually drove through it, but it looked pretty nice apart from some kind of roadworks. Anyway, Barbecue is up there in the TripAdvisor kebab hall of fame.
"The kebabs are amazing but I love the keema peas and they're hardly Ever on!" says Angie C, in a way that mixes praise and complaint expertly.
Gregory O is more effusive though: "Just gone and got a kebab from barbecue and gotta say it was proper Boss!"
Probably not a surprise that our wild ride through a kebab-laden greatest hits eventually takes us into Rusholme, and to Caspian. Yes there are kebabs, but there are also kobedas - which are kebabs, but with, erm, a different name.
Mramorgan says (deep breath): "Been here a few times the bloke and his mrs are super friendly and take pride in their food the lamb kobeda is very good not as good as rusholme chippy but very very very good and thats a massive good thing as rushome chippy been doing those massive kobedas for like 30 years and they are great but this place is a little gem well done."
Seriously, what happened to the art of punctuation?
"Their kebabs are ginaormous," says Luke H. I think I know what he means...
Camel One, Rusholme
We're not moving too far for the next one. An 'absolute institution' according to whothefox. "The greatest kebab in the world," says Matthew C.
"As kebabs go this is really the place to go when in Manchester. I've been visiting on and off for 20 years now. My kids even say to me when we go to Manchester can we go straight to camel one!" says Lotpot3, who maybe lies about their kids a bit.
*ages - ie, if you wait a long time, you grow a beard.
