They are going on to compete in the National Kebab Awards next month
A popular South Devon takeaway is now officially one of the best kebab shops in the country.
Torquay Charcoal Grill, on Abbey Road, has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Takeaway Regional’ prize at the British Kebab Awards 2018.
The takeaway will now battle it out against venues from across the UK to win the prize next month.
Harun Zorel, director at Torquay Charcoal Grill, said: “It’s fantastic and we’re so happy to be nominated.
“It’s a nice feeling to have the support of all the locals, so we thank them and all of our loyal customers for this amazing opportunities.
“I would like to say thank you to our staff, too.
“Their hard work and commitment is amazing and it’s nice to see that people recognise that we always give our best.”
It’s the second time that the venue has been recognised by the British Kebab Awards after receiving a nomination in 2017.
This year, they will be going for the top prize against takeaways from Weymouth, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Blackpool, Surrey and Kent.
Bristol venue Kebab kitchen are also in the running for the award.
Torquay Charcoal Grill are one of a number of Devon businesses to be recognised on a national – and even international scale - in recent weeks.
Torquay B&B, 25 Boutique, was named as one of the Top Ten in the world at the TripAdvisor Excellence Awards 2018.
Meanwhile, The Lemon Tree in Teignmouth, was named as one of the venues offering one of the best breakfasts in the UK, with its Bubble and Squeak gaining national acclaim.
