The bizarre British kebab award: the only award anyone cares about

The Awards significantly marks the contribution of local kebab takeaways and restaurants across Britain. It recognizes fans who champion the kebab industry with their sincere efforts.

The 2017 event took place at London’s Westminster Park Plaza Hotel on 26th February. The event drew key figures ranging from celebrities, journalists, and hardworking restaurant workers. More than 1000 people attended the Sunday night event.

Florence Eshalomi, a prominent political figure in London was in attendance. Even though London Prime Minister Theresa and the opposition leaders Jeremy Corbyn were absent, they sent messages to express their support of the event.

Ibrahim Dogus founded the awards in the year 2012 as a way of raising standards in the industry. Ibrahim welcomed guests at the ceremony and lauded everyone’s dedication on the Kebab Industry, which has experienced gross earnings of £ 2.7 billion.

Ibrahim Dogus read from a report from a recent statistics which was honored throughout the event, “Every day, 1.3 million kebabs are sold across Britain thus significantly contributing to the British Economy.”

The prestigious UK Awards trended briefly on Twitter above the Oscars Awards, honoring 1200 people, who have consistently pay homage to the street kebab. Among the interesting tweet was, “I was in Oscars 2017, but I heard there was something better in town @KebabAwards well done and congratulations to the winners…”

The Awards took votes from the fans across the country to find the most outstanding kebab outlet in the region. To be shortlisted, one had to have rating points above 50. What the fans considered most were the hygiene levels and the food standards in the kebab outlet. The judges then engaged in the final decisions in the short-listing.

The 2017 Awards Ceremony, however, experienced gender bias. Starting from the judges to the award winners lacked women figure. However, women are passionate about kebab, being their favorite street snack. Thus they deserved to lead in numbers on the judging panel and specific category Awards.

To be perfectly honest, the strange issue about the annual event is that most of the people in their right mind turn out to eat kebab from chefs of different kebab house. The top two winners of the 2017 Kebab Awards were, Just Eat Best Delivery and Galliard Homes Customer Satisfaction.
