TWO Ceredigion takeaways have been named among the finalists for the best kebab house in Wales award at the British Kebab Awards.

Pasha Takeaway, at 1 Clos Twm Sion Catti, Tregaron, and Marco’s in Pier Street, Aberystwyth, will be among ten finalists vying for the prestigious crown at a glittering ceremony in the ballroom of the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on Monday, 12 March.

Kebab businesses in every corner of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales will be battling for gongs in 16 categories after members of the public nominated 5,012 of their favourite shops.

These were whittled down to a shortlist of 153 based on the number of public votes received, with bonus points for nominations from MPs and councillors.

Hygiene, online satisfaction ratings and the number of #BritishKebabAwards tweets of support that a contender received were also taken into account.

Over 1,200 guests including more than 110 MPs and Lords are expected to attend the British Kebab Awards VIP-studded ceremony.
