Is this the best kebab shop in Devon?
Owners of a North Devon kebab shop are determined to make 2017 their best year yet after two nominations for national awards.
Mete Sevinc and Louise Sanna set up Marmaris Kebab and Pizza on Bear Street, Barnstaple, four and a half years ago, and have already received acclaim for their produce.
Mete attended the awards and, though he didn't win, called it a great night.
He said: "There were lots of celebrities and politicians. The awards took place at Westminster Park Plaza Hotel in London and Scott Mills from Radio 1 was the host. I really enjoyed it.

"It was amazing to be nominated and I was so proud to hear our shop in the awards. We were up against shops in big cities so for a small town like Barnstaple to have a nomination was a massive achievement."
Louise, who has lived in North Devon since 2006, said getting into the shortlist as well as being nominated was a massive achievement for a small shop in a small town, up against huge competition.
She said: "We moved from Bideford to Barnstaple when we bought the shop and then we had to build it up from scratch. We are very customer-led. They might request something and say this would be good, we'll research and do it for them.
"We are on Just Eat and it is an international app. We are very focused on getting customers' reviews and if we have the highest rating that puts us at the top of the list if people search for kebab shops. We have been given a Tried and Tested award from Just Eat because we had about 250 six star reviews a year which means the customers thought it was pretty perfect.
"We want to keep getting better. We're going to change our menu in the next couple of weeks, things people won't expect from a kebab shop will be on there. We have said 2017 is going to be our year and now we're going to go out and win."
