Five of the best kebab houses in Somerset

Kebab houses in Somerset have been snubbed for a national award – but have they missed a trick?

The 2017 British kebab awards shortlist has been published, without even a mention for any of county's kebab shops and restaurants.

The South West may not be renowned for our take on the Mediterranean delicacy, but we are still capable of delivering a quality post night-out snack.

So here at Somerset Live we have conjured five of the best places to bag yourself a greasy Turkish delight

Rams Kebab in Wells has developed quite the reputation for the high quality menu it has on offer.

The restaurant has established itself as one of the go-to food vendors for a late night snack, with their varied menu that includes kebabs, including the old favourite donner and chicken shish.

Reviews are highly positive of the establishment, with many scoring five star reviews on Trip advisor alone.

Troy Kebab - Yeovil

Based in the Yeovil city centre, Troy Kebab is the place to go for a late snack.

At night people are regularly dining in the establishment to calm the stomach after their late-night celebrations have come to and an end.

The staff are renowned for their friendly personalities, and with the chain being housed right next to a Wetherspoon pub, it is certainly the place to go for those on a budget.

Reviews are generally positive, and they also offer a delivery service.

Best Istanbul Grill and Kebab House – Taunton

If you are looking for the best kebab in Somerset then the Istanbul Kebab and Pizza House holds that title, according to review ranking on Tripadvisor.

The reviews frequently praise the quality of the food, the punctuality of delivery and the friendliness of its staff.

The punters speak highly of the range of kebabs on offer, with a range of meats and sauces, with delivery requiring orders of ten pounds or more.

One review even reads: "I have been to Istanbul and it is a beautiful place. I tasted loads of kebabs, but they weren't as good as this place"

Marmaris Restaurant – Bath

The Marmaris restaurant in Bath caters for everybody. It offers starters, mains, desserts and even has a vegetarian option.

The portions are extremely generous, at affordable prices and the restaurant is family friendly.

To put it into perspective, the 'Marmaris 4 course' which offers a drink as well as three courses only costs £20.50 – you can't say fairer than that!

Kottage Kebabs – North Petherton

The small establishment in North Petherton, near Bridgwater holds a five-star hygiene rating, and a high-quality menu to boot.

They rank at number three on tripadvisor and it is easy to see why with streams of positive reviews praising their detailed menu, available at affordable prices.

The comments tell how they offer the freshest salad in the South West, so it is definitely worth a visit in my eyes!
